The 2021 BET Hip Hop Awards will air at 9 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 5, on BET.
The awards honor hip hop artists, producers and music video directors.
The I Am Hip Hop Award will go to Nelly “a diamond-selling, multi-platinum, Grammy Award-winning rap superstar, entrepreneur, philanthropist and actor.”
The Rock the Bells Cultural Influence Award will go to Tyler, The Creator. He is an “award-winning artist, producer, director, fashion designer, filmmaker and entrepreneur who cofounded the hip-hop group and record label Odd Future in 2007.”
Performers will include Baby Keem, Bia, Gunna, Isaiah Rashad, Lil Jon, Tobe Nwigwe and Young Thug.
Nominations include:
- DJ of the year – Chase B, D Nice, DJ Cassidy, DJ Drama, DJ Envy, DJ Jazzy Jeff, DJ Scheme and Kaytranada.
- Best hip hop video – Cardi B, “Up;” Cardi B featuring Megan Thee Stallion, “Wap;” Chris Brown & Young Thug, “Go Crazy;” Drake featuring Lil Durk, “Laugh Now Cry Later;” Lil Nas X, “Montero (Call Me By Your Name);” and Saweetie featuring Doja Cat, “Best Friend.”
- Song of the year: Pooh Shiesty featuring Lil Durk, “Back in Blood;” Roddy Ricch, “Late at Night;” Drake featuring Lil Durk, “Laugh Now Cry Later;” Cardi B, “Up;” Cardi B featuring Megan Thee Stallion, “Wap;” and Bia featuring Nicki Minaj, “Whole Lotta Money (Remix).”
- Best new hip hop artist: Blxst, Coi Leray, Don Toliver, Morray, Pooh Shiesty and Young Bleu.
- Best live performer: Busta Rhymes, Cardi B, Dababy, Doja Cat, Megan Thee Stallion and Tyler, The Creator.
- Hip hop artist of the year – Cardi B, Drake, J. Cole, Lil Baby, Megan Thee Stallion and Tyler, The Creator.
