Former NBC Entertainment chairman Paul Telegdy launches The Whole Spiel – Realscreen

Former NBC Entertainment chairman Paul Telegdy has hung up a new shingle, The Whole Spiel, just over a year after his high-profile exit from NBCUniversal.

According to its website, The Whole Spiel will work across film, television, live entertainment and games, creating assets with multigenerational appeal, and will additionally serve as an accelerator for ideas and businesses. The media, entertainment and technology company — co-founded with Stefan Telegdy — is based in Berlin and Los Angeles.

In a LinkedIn post on Thursday (Sept. 16), Telegdy wrote: “If you are looking for authentic, positive, innovative and practical solutions to your creative needs, perhaps our paths will cross. It’s been really fun to start the conversation with so many people about what our plans are.

“I’m not sure what hashtags to post and I’m sure that I should post a photo of the moon landing, but here is a photo of me grinning, sitting in the lobby of P7S1 in Munich. I would also like to point out to anyone who has met with me in the last two months, that the sun is nearly always shining – you’re welcome!”

Earlier this week, meanwhile, Stefan posted to the platform: “We started on the first of July and stayed under the radar for a while. But now we’re on a European tour to present the idea and the ideas of The Whole Spiel.”

Paul has worked across brands such as Top Gear, The Voice  and Planet Earth. In 2008, after a 10 year stint at the BBC, Telegdy went on to hold a number of positions at NBC Entertainment including EVP of alternative programming, president of unscripted and co-chairman before becoming chairman in 2019.

After 12 years, Telegdy parted ways with NBCU amid staff cuts across NBCU’s portfolio of brands in a reorganization of its television and streaming platforms businesses. His exit also came in the wake of allegations of sexism, racism and homophobia first reported in The Hollywood Reporter in July 2020, which prompted an internal investigation into both his conduct and workplace culture.
