The events calendar promises a September to remember for fans of live entertainment, outdoor festivals, beer tastings and art.
Some long-popular summer events were moved to September this year, like Garrison Day in Beaver and the Beaver Falls Car Cruise.
Pittsburgh area concert sites like Club Cafe, Mr. Smalls Theater and Carnegie of Homestead Music Hall finally get back to full gear with show offerings.
Whether plays, galleries, car cruises or wine tastings are your jam, there’s plenty to see and do.
Keep in mind COVID safety protocols, and the lingering possibility that events might be postponed.
But here’s a good starting point to map out your September fun.
Sept. 1.
• Big Knob Grange Fair, New Sewickley Township, continues through Sept. 4.
• Glass Animals concert at Stage AE.
Sept. 2.
• “12:52 The Mike Webster Story” opens at Iron Horse Community Theatre, Ambridge. (Continues Sept. 3-5; 9-12 and 17-18.)
• 25th annual Good Samaritan Parish Festival begins, 6 to 9:30 p.m., 725 Glenwood Ave, Ambridge, with bingo, hourly 50/50 raffle, home style dinners, bake sale, beer & bar tent, Ethnic Mass and live music.
• Food Truck Nights & Picnics in the Park, 5 to 7 p.m., every other Thursday, Wright Fields at Veterans Park, Chippewa Township.
• The Mattress Factory Block Party includes free admission to the North Side, Pittsburgh art gallery’s season-opening exhibition “Making Home Here” celebrating local artists.
Sept. 3
• The Hoot Owls in the Monaca First Fridays concert series, 6 p.m. Washington Plaza, Monaca.
• “Summer Flower Show: The Hidden Life of Trolls” Featuring one-of-a-kind displays of trolls inspired by the mythological creatures found in folklore and pop culture, at Phipps Conservancy & Botanical Gardens, Pittsburgh. (Runs through Sept. 26).
• Good Samaritan Parish Festival continues.
Sept. 4
