Florida Vintage Market: Noon – 5 p.m. today, High Dive, 210 SW 2nd Ave. Free and family friendly outdoor event.  Outdoor shopping experience for curated vintage clothing, sustainable fashion street wear, custom clothing, artists, makers, food and more.

2021 GFAA Artists Studio Tour: 9 a.m.-5 p.m.today at select studios. https://ift.tt/2VUyuuy is hosted by the Gainesville Fine Arts Association, a self-guided tour through working artist studios in Gainesville.  The Studio Tour showcases fine art and fine craft in a broad range of media and styles, and  includes an 8-page program with a map of studio locations in addition to signage around the county assisting people in finding the studios.  Artists are encouraged to demonstrate their work and show their materials and their processes. GFAA offers smaller original artworks for sale in its gift shop.Gallery hours: 1-5 p.m. Tuesday- Friday. 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. Saturday. 1314 Main St.

Guest speaker: Dr. MacDonald, an adjunct instructor of history at Stetson University in Deland, Fla. The topic:  “A Short History of Florida from the Spanish Colonial Period to the Present.” Discussion after they presentation. Music will be provided by the Sunday Assembly musicians with the opportunity for a sing along. 

Between Heaven & Earth, The Paintings of Alyne Harris: On exhibition through Jan. 15, 2022 are part of the City of Gainesville’s Of This Place permanent art collection. This exhibit is a community cultural asset and features 200 paintings by Gainesville native Alyne Harris, who paints to express both her lived experiences and her profound spiritual life. Harris’ work draws heavily from African-American traditions including jumping the broom in her wedding scenes. Her paintings call on viewers to travel the paths of their own recollections, an exchange that becomes part of the work itself. Her work reminds the viewer that revisiting the past can connect us with the present and the future.

Story Time on the Green: 10 a.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays  weather permitting through – Oct.2.  Hosted by the Alachua County Library District. Librarians and library staff will read tales and lead activities for infants through 5-year-olds at library green spaces and parks. Parents and families can bring blankets and chairs to spread out. Kanapaha Botanical Gardens: 9 a.m.- 7 p.m. or dusk today, Kanapaha Botanical Gardens, 4700 SW 58th Drive. The Florida Museum of Natural History: Now through Sept. 6 offering Blue Star Museums 2021 program which provides free admission to all fee-based exhibits for active duty military personnel and their families including members of the National Guard and Reserve, U.S. Public Health Service and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Commissioned Corps, and up to five family members.

Afternoon Adventure Camp: 2 – 5 p.m. Wednesdays at the Cade Museum, 811 S. Main St. This mid-week opportunity will  focus on challenges that boost kids’ creativity and imagination. Cade Museum educators help children ages 5-11 engage in a broad range of hands-on STEAM experiments and activities. In the Creativity Lab and Fab Lab, children will explore and improve skills in 3D design, coding, robotics, and more. Cade’s educators will be available to help children in kindergarten through 5th-grade address homework challenges.   Registration is open. Members receive a discounted rate. 

Little Sparks ages 0-5: 12:15 -1 p.m. Saturday, Cade Museum, 811 S. Main St.  Children will receive a personal Little Sparks kit with all of their own supplies, plus make and takes that extend the fun and learning at home. Our BRAIN and Sweat Solution exhibits will also be open for Little Sparks noon – 5 p.m.

University Galleries: Museum Studies: The Artwork of Richard Heipp: Saturday, through Aug. 20. Thursday, through Aug. 28.
