Two COVID-19 vaccines were released in December 2020 from pharmaceutical giants Moderna and Pfizer, giving many people hope that the pandemic was coming to an end. And while there seems to be a light at the end of the tunnel and many countries are ramping up their vaccine distribution, there’s still a long way to go before most of the general public can get their shots. Now, with more vaccines approved, like Johnson & Johnson’s one-shot option, more and more people are getting the chance to protect themselves. High-priority groups, such as essential workers, health care workers, and older adults are still getting priority in most places, though President Biden has promised that the United States will have enough vaccines to give shots to everyone who chooses to get one before the end of May.
