Keira Knightley
By now, Keira Knightley has pretty much become the poster child for re-wearing your wedding dress. Five years after first taking her bespoke Chanel tulle gown by late designer Karl Lagerfeld for a spin at a Finch & Partners’ pre-BAFTA bash in 2008, she decided it was just the piece for exchanging her vows with James Righton in Marzan, France. “I just wanted to be in something I had had a great time in, something I would have a great time in again,” she would later tell the Telegraph.
Seven months later, she hit the red carpet in the dress yet again for the SeriousFun gala in London, trading out her bridal flats for a pair of strappy heels.
The beloved gown has since been retired, however, as Knightley revealed to the publication in 2014 that it was all but ruined after a friend spilled red wine all over it. “It’s quite impressively splattered. But, hey, a good night is a good night and when a dress has had its time, maybe it’s had its time,” she said. “I’m pretty sure I can get it out, but if I can’t, I’m happy with the memory of a good night and the story of how the dress got destroyed.”
