Fenzrir: The Bronx Rock-Rapper Bending Hip-Hop Subgenres to Create His Own Musical Soundscapes – Influencive

“The hardest things for me to write about are generic things, such as using guns or money. I am too prideful to fall into the same repetitive topics these hip-hop artists usually talk about.” Fenzrir shared this thought in response to the challenges he has faced as a songwriter and artist. Currently creating music that blends the genres of metal, rock, and hip-hop, Fenzrir is at the forefront of the formation of a brand-new subgenre in rap, and he is well aware of his position.

Hailing from the Bronx neighborhood of New York City, Fenzrir has been exposed to a melting pop of people and cultures, as well as the music and art they carry with them. The inspiration that Fenzrir gained from the various types of people he met fueled the passion and creativity that he needed to pursue his musical passion fully.

“Channeling my inner rage into making my tracks a powerful reminder to always push beyond the scars and bad experiences with confidence and arrogance,” Fenzrir states. The Bronx rapper began his journey into music to channel, explore, and express his feelings and emotions. Facing his share of challenges in his life, Fenzrir has used those experiences as a learning situation and a way to further his music. “One of the most challenging things I have had to overcome in life was being apprehended by the U.S. Marshall and placed under arrest in military prison,” Fenzrir shares.

Like the artists who inspire him, Fenzrir uses the rage and angst he feels in his life to build the sonics of his music. Self-described as having “a Viking touch that commands the listener’s full attention,” his music resembles that of Slipknot’s Corey Taylor taking a turn at making rap music. “Rage is a powerful tool and, if used correctly, you can keep moving forward,” Fenrir shares.

The Bronx rapper’s most recently released project, the nine-track long Sun Eater, finds him mixing primal feeling and metal-rap production with his seemingly screamo rap vocals. Resemblant of acts like Bring Me The Horizon and Hollywood Undead, the project offers new soundscapes that may further these subgenres.

Fenzrir has also just been signed to Bentley Records out of New York City. With even more significant backing, the genre-mixing rapper is deep into work on his upcoming EP, which has been building a high amount of buzz. Fans and critics alike are looking forward to the project’s release and hearing how Fenzrir builds upon his new genre of Viking-rap.
